A blog discussing only about TuneUp Utilities and related to it.
If your MS Windows computer’s performance is a far cry from how it was maybe a month ago, you may need to tune it up usingTuneUp Utilities 2010. IF you are wondering if this software is the real deal, you need not do anything but count the number of awards TuneUp Utilities got from well known and well respected computer authorities.
The Shareware Industry Awards Foundation gave the People’s Choice Award for Best Application to TuneUp 2010 last August 13, 2009. On the same month, the software received a 5 Star, Buy This endorsement from Windows – The Official Magazine. The software received other countless awards too many too list on this short article.
So what exactly is TuneUp Utilities 2010? According to Laptop Magazine, TuneUp Utilities is a “novice friendly” application that transforms poorly performing computers back into shape with minimal user intervention
Features that were well implemented in TuneUp Utilities include a novice-friendly user interface. Despite of the highly technical nature of computer performance optimization, the software’s user interface does not intimidate the uninitiated. The software designers decided to implement a clean and easy to read interface by grouping optimization tasks into three – Maintenance, Speed, and Health. When Laptop Magazine said that the software requires minimal user intervention, they referred to the one-click scan and fix button.
As an example, when users want to perform the tasks under the Maintenance group, there is a one click button that repairs problems that impair computer performance. More advanced users can click the Details link to view a checklist of performance hindering problems identified by the software. The user may opt to check or uncheck an item in the list. A more task oriented approach to computer maintenance is also included in the user interface. There are links to Increase Performance, Free up Disk Space, Clean up Windows, Solve Problems, Customize Windows, and Additional Tools, Each task has its own interface that enable the owners to tweak how optimizing performance can be performed.
What are some of the things TuneUp Utilities do to increase computer performance?
For a really responsive computer, TuneUp Utilities has a Turbo Mode that concentrates the performance of the computer on the active program. Turbo Mode is perfect for games and graphical applications like photo and video editing. The benefit of Turbo Mode is a smoother user experience.
TuneUp Utilities is an award winning shareware meaning that you can try all the features of the software for thirty days, free. A download link is available in TuneUp Utilities homepage where anyone can try out the software commitment free for a month.
TuneUp announced that the latest version of its award-winning series of PC optimization software will be available at the end of October. The software manufacturer has integrated a number of new features, including full Windows 7 support, into TuneUp Utilities 2010, making PC maintenance more convenient for both novice and professional computer users.
TuneUp Utilities 2010 contains the new Turbo Mode to increase the performance of users' PCs. This allows consumers to switch off a large number of unnecessary background processes -- with a single click. The Live Optimization function is another addition to TuneUp Utilities. It helps improve programs' startup and response times, even when computers are bogged down with a number of applications running simultaneously. TuneUp Utilities 2010 also provides users with a concise Optimization Report, which outlines the Windows maintenance processes carried out and the problems that have been fixed. TuneUp has redesigned the Start Center; once the software program has been opened, this feature shows users in a clear and concise layout which optimization processes are necessary for their individual system.
BOSTON, MA, Jun 03 (MARKET WIRE) --
Like the 2007 and 2008 versions, TuneUp Utilities 2009 now meets all of
the requirements for Microsoft's Windows Vista certification. The tuning
software provides Windows users with a powerful software solution for
automatic maintenance and complete customization of their PCs. The
official "Certified for Windows Vista" logo demonstrates the superior
quality, reliability and compatibility of TuneUp's Windows optimization
product suite.
Officially launched in December 2008, TuneUp Utilities 2009 takes an
intelligent approach, analyzing the configuration of individual PCs to
determine the best tuning measures to perform based on a user's specific
requirements. The software makes it possible for users to optimize their
computers with minimal effort, while maintaining complete control over any
system interventions. TuneUp Utilities 2009 supports Windows XP and Vista
(32 or 64 bit); by automatically adapting to a PC's operating system, it
offers Windows XP users the safety of continued use when migrating to
Windows Vista.
"There are 'black sheep' among Windows optimization tools on the market.
These unprofessional options can cause more harm to PCs with overeager
tasks rather than finding a solution to the original problem," said Tibor
Schiemann, president and managing partner, TuneUp. "We work closely with
Microsoft to provide our customers with software they can trust to safely
and selectively optimize their Windows operating system. We are pleased
that our flagship product has once again successfully passed all of the
Windows Vista certification requirements."
A free 30-day trial version of TuneUp Utilities 2009 is available for
download at www.tune-up.com. The full version can be purchased for $49.95,
and upgrades from previous versions can be downloaded for $29.95. Users
who purchase a single product license are able to install the software on
up to three computers. TuneUp Utilities 2009 is also available via the
retail channel in the United States.
About TuneUp
TuneUp, based in Darmstadt, Germany, makes it possible for Windows users
to fine-tune their PCs for optimum performance. PCs that are maintained
using TuneUp Utilities are less cluttered, and are proven to work faster
and be more stable.
The success story began eleven years ago when TuneUp founders Tibor
Schiemann and Christoph Laumann developed Germany's first complete package
for the optimization of Windows PCs. The program was called "TuneUp 97 --
the intelligent tuning tool." The TuneUp founders consider "intelligent
tuning" to be the effective optimization of PCs that takes care of as many
of the necessary steps as possible for the user.
Since 2003, TuneUp has been expanding internationally. TuneUp Utilities is
currently used by more than 10 million people worldwide, and is now
available in English, German, French, Dutch, Spanish, Italian and Polish.
End users can find TuneUp Utilities directly on the company's home page

A portable application (portable app) is a computer software program that is able to run independently without the need to install files to the system it is run upon. They are commonly used on a removable storage device such as a CD, USB flash drive, flash card, or floppy disk. Portable apps should not be confused with software portability where software allows its source code to be compiled for different computing platforms. Portable applications can be run on any computer system with which they are compatible but typically require a specific operating system such as Microsoft Windows XP or above, certain version of a Linux distro, etc.
Portable software is typically designed to be able to store its configuration information and data on the storage media containing its program files.
To certain operating systems such as AmigaOS, the concept of portable application has no use at all because all applications are portable by definition. Depending on the operating system, portability is more or less complex to implement.
