Changes through TuneUp!

This is a post from Robbie of Batangas about the new virus from his computer that was able to delete through TuneUp Utilities!

I was a victim of a new virus. The name of the virus is gphone.exe, i accidentally open this file. Lucky enough because my folder options is set on view hidden and system files and folders.

this is what the virus do:
1. kill task manager
2. no folder options
3. kill registry editor.
4. crawls to your folder. and make the same folder name with .exe extention.
5. no system restore point.

here is what i do do get rid of that virus manually/
i have a 2nd party application acts like a task manager. from there i kill the process gphone.exe. (tuneup utilities)

2. i use explorer and go to c:/windows/system32/
and find the file gphone.exe and autorun.inf delete it

3. use spybot search and destroy and scan your pc for malware.

4. i use hijack this to clean my registry and delete entry files pertaining to gphone.exe

5. manually delete all folder.exe files in all my folders (system folder is not affected only all under my documents folder.

6. restart.
7. create new administrator account.
8. done.

That's one of the powerful changes to ones life TuneUp brings!

Introduction

There are lots of software that offers maintainance but of all those applications, tuneup utilities, in my opinion is the best of them all. It brings lots of excitement to your computer especially customizing and optimizing.

TuneUp Utilities 2010 is the newest version but it is still in Beta and in German language. The 2009 version is the most common version of TuneUp Utilities that many uses. This is the snapshot of TuneUp Utilities 2009.

TuneUp Utilities is not a freeware. So it needs to be registered to enjoy its features. The only way to enjoy its features by not spending a bit of bucks is by piracy. It sounds bad but its the only way. Simple copy and paste is already pirating and tuneUp will never allow that. It's your decision whether you continue to download and pirate it. If you decide to continue then let's continue.............

What is portable?

Well, according to the site of Wikipedia,

A portable application (portable app) is a computer software program that is able to run independently without the need to install files to the system it is run upon. They are commonly used on a removable storage device such as a CD, USB flash drive, flash card, or floppy disk. Portable apps should not be confused with software portability where software allows its source code to be compiled for different computing platforms. Portable applications can be run on any computer system with which they are compatible but typically require a specific operating system such as Microsoft Windows XP or above, certain version of a Linux distro, etc.

Portable software is typically designed to be able to store its configuration information and data on the storage media containing its program files.

To certain operating systems such as AmigaOS, the concept of portable application has no use at all because all applications are portable by definition. Depending on the operating system, portability is more or less complex to implement.
